The iconic “Cosby Show” actress Phylicia Rashad is following in Taye Diggs‘ footsteps by signing on to guest star in the third season of “Empire.”

According to Shadow and Act, Rashad will play Diana Dubois, the wealthy “matriarch of one of New York’s oldest and most prominent Africa American families.” As the mother of ambitious city councilman Angelo Dubois (Diggs), Diana is grooming her son for higher political aspirations and will definitely clash with her son’s new Bae Cookie and the Lyon family.

Sounds amazing!

Rashad joins other previously announced guest stars, including Mariah Carey, Sierra McClain, French Montana and Birdman, Variety noted.

Here’s a peek at season 3:

“Empire” returns to Fox on Sept. 21.

You Don’t Say? A North Carolina Church Holds ‘Racists Anonymous’ Meetings

We’ll all heard about Alcoholic’s Anonymous and Narcotic’s Anonymous, but one church in North Carolina is hosting  ‘Racists Anonymous’ Meetings.

According to Fox 46 News, every Wednesday, Trinity United Church of Christ in Concord, NC, hosts these meetings in hopes to help those who address the racial bias they have for others.

“Well some people say they’re racist, some people say they’re not sure,” Carol Stanley, who facilitates the meetings,  explained. “But we’re becoming clearer and clearer on the unconscious racism that we all carry. It’s a way to address one’s own racism as a spiritual practice and discipline,” she added.

Pastor Nathan King told Fox 46 that about a dozen people show up for the meetings and that given the current state the country is in, when it comes to this topic these meetings are right on time.

“The timing was very right for us to put our prayers into action,” Pastor King said.

If this seems pretty progressive, it’s probably because Trinity United Church of Christ has credited themselves for being forward thinkers.

“We ordained the first woman clergy in the United States, we ordained the first out gay man in the United States,” King said.

King stressed hat more churches around the country need to stand up and do this type of work to combat racism.

“I think the churches came together on civil rights, I was a product of that, but I think we got complacent and it’s crept back in.”

Boy Bye! Eagles Linebacker Myke Tavarres Vows To Protest With Colin Kaepernick, Then Takes It Back

Eagles linebacker Myke Tavarres recently boasted that he would sit during the national anthem to show his allegiance to Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but now he’s rescinded his stance.

According to Philly.com, hours after the 23-year-old free agent told ESPN he would be protesting, his agent confirmed that his client had changed his mind.

Hmmm…”a distraction?” Earlier he was speaking an entirely different tune telling ESPN, “We’ve got an issue in this country in this day and age, and I feel like somebody needs to step up and we all need to step up.”

“We’ve got that right. There’s just a lot going on that people don’t want to talk about, and I feel like us as athletes, we’re looked at as role models. And I feel like with Colin Kaepernick, he’s doing a great job for standing up in what he believes in, and most people may not like that, but that’s his opinion, he’s entitled to it, and I respect him for doing it,” he added.

Thankfully, Kaepernick is doing this for himself and not for anyone else. As HELLO BEAUTIFUL previously reported, the 28-year-old said he will not stand during the national anthem to protest to the wrongdoings against Blacks and minorities in the United States.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
