UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

Each of us has some aspect of our lives that might convince us that we have nothing to give others. How do we overcome these perceived shortcomings? Jeremiah’s response was based on God’s promise to be with Jeremiah as he carried out his calling.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Jeremiah was called to bring a difficult message during difficult times to a people who did not want to hear or heed it. God’s promise of His presence did not mean that Jeremiah would not be persecuted or imprisoned. God just meant that no serious physical harm would come to him. God promised Jeremiah that the words he needed would be put in his mouth, and Jeremiah acted as God’s faithful messenger in spite of many attempts on his life.

PRAYER:

Oh LORD, make us instruments of your peace. But help us to also be brave and obedient enough to be used as instruments of speaking truth to power and exposing corruption where necessary. Thank you for being such a balanced God who calls us to be a balanced people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
