This week on the Community Affairs Show Cheryl Jackson talks with Emeobong Martin, MHP, Regional Director, Health Systems Region 14 (DC, MD, VA) of the Alzheimer’s Association.  The Alzheimer’s Association recently released a study of Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementia as it relates to People of Color. The latest report was titled, “Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figure”. This finding shares how Older Black Americans are about twice as likely to have Alzheimer’s or other Dementias as older Whites. Older Hispanics are about one and one half times as likely to have Alzheimer’s or other Dementias as older Whites. Most of this is due to lack of quality health care in our community. We addressed the importance of health care and ways to prevent Alzheimer’s Disease and ways to improve your life for those suffering from Alzheimer’s.
