Angela Bassett opens up on her 20-year marriage to actor Courtney B. Vance. When asked by the hosts of CBS’ The Talk if it was love at first sight for the couple, she admits:
“No. I mean, admiration, he was awfully cute, we were in drama school together, and I was a little ahead of him in drama school, and he came with a girlfriend, so no…”
She also shares that the couple decided to be celibate for the year before their wedding:
“It went pretty well. It worked out… I do find that it’s easier to get to know the person, them to get to know you, to have the experience without that… and if they don’t stick around then you know it isn’t for you, it isn’t for me.”
In December, Tina Turner announced that she’s is working on another book about her life. Angela Bassett, who won a Golden Globe for playing the singer in the 1993 hit movie What’s Love Got to Do with It is asked if she’d be open to revisiting the role. “I think I would!,” she reveals.
