Reports say Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized in his residing city of Phoenix for a respiratory issue.
“He is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition,” family spokesman Bob Gunnell said in a statement. “A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”
Ali retired from boxing at 1981 and has since had many visits to the hospital. Most recently, for a severe urinary tract infection that was first misdiagnosed as pneumonia. The 74-year-old champ also suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
