Astronaut Jessica Watkins will make history as the first Black woman to join an international space station crew.

Victor Glover became the first Black astronaut to serve as a crew member at the station on Sunday (Nov. 15) when he boarded a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule named Resilience and rocketed up to the International's Space Station. 

Astronaut Jeanette Epps will make history as the first African-American astronaut to fly on board the International Space Station as a flight engineer during an expedition in May 2018.

“Hidden Figures,” a movie with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, about African American women involved with NASA’s early missions, films in Canton this month. The movie, also with Kevin Costner, is based on the nonfiction book by Margot Lee Shetterly, “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.” […]
