Baltimore-area residents are in for a stretch of hot and humid weather with scattered storms through Tuesday, but relief is on the horizon just in time for Fourth of July festivities.

Sunday and Monday will bring classic summertime conditions, high heat and tropical humidity. Temperatures will feel like the mid to upper 90s, with some areas on the Eastern Shore feeling like the low 100s. The UV index is a very high 10, so be sure to stay hydrated and use plenty of sunscreen.

Both days will see chances for isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Sunday’s storms are most likely near I-95 and points south and east and could bring damaging winds, downpours, and lightning. Orioles fans attending Sunday’s game should prepare for the possibility of a rain delay.

Monday’s forecast is nearly identical, though severe storms may pop up anywhere across Central and Eastern Maryland.

Tuesday will mark the peak of the heat and humidity, with actual highs in the low to mid-90s and feels-like temps pushing into the 100s. Severe storms are likely in the afternoon and evening as a strong cold front pushes through, possibly bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, lightning, and hail.

By Wednesday morning, showers will clear, ushering in much nicer weather. Wednesday afternoon will be less humid with highs in the upper 80s. Thursday will be sunny and hot, around 90 degrees.

The real payoff comes Friday through the holiday weekend, with what forecasters are calling some of the best weather of the summer. Expect sunny skies, highs in the mid-80s to low 90s, and ideal evening conditions for fireworks.
