Ever since Prince‘s death, several individuals have come forward claiming to be related to the singer in an effort to get a piece of his fortune. On Friday, Bremer Trust, the administrator of his estate, filed court documents in Carver County, Minnesota, claiming that 13 people have failed to establish a close connection to Prince. Some of the individuals dismissed claimed they were related to the sister of Prince’s great-grandfather; however, Minnesota law doesn’t make them eligible to receive any type of inheritance. Brianna L. Nelson, who claims to be Prince’s half-niece, and an 11-year-old child who claims to be his half-grandniece, will undergo genetic testing. Nelson and the child are the daughter and granddaughter of Prince’s alleged half-brother Duane Nelson Sr. Duane Sr. did security for Prince at one point. Bremer Trust has made the decision that one of his siblings and five of his half-siblings are considered heirs. Read more.
President Obama’s Half-Brother is Voting for Donald Trump
President Obama’s half-brother Malik Obama has declared that he will be voting for Donald Trump. The 58-year-old, who hails from Kenya, shared that he was disappointed by his brother’s administration and has decided to switch over to the Republican Party. Obama said he made his decision after FBI Director James Comey decided presidential candidate Hillary Clinton shouldn’t be prosecuted for her email scandal. “She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” said Obama. He also is upset about the killing of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. “I still feel that getting rid of Gaddafi didn’t make things any better in Libya,” he said. “My brother and the secretary of state disappointed me in that regard.” Obama said he would like to meet Donald Trump one day and he plans on coming back to the U.S. in November to cast his vote. “I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart,” he said. “Make America Great Again is a great slogan. I would like to meet him.” Read more.
Police Killings at an All-Time Low Under President Obama’s Leadership
With the recent police shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge, it seems like incidents like these are becoming all too common. But a recent report shows differently. According to data released by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund—an organization that monitors police shootings—intended attacks on cops are at an all-time low under President Obama’s administration. During Ronald Reagan’s time in office, the average number of police officers killed was 101 per year. During President Bill Clinton’s tenure, on average 81 police officers were intentionally murdered per year. While former President George W. Bush was in office, that number dropped to 72 deaths per year and now that President Obama is in office, the average is 62. The study also revealed that cops are safer now than they have been in several years. Read more.
Cast and Logo for Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Revealed
At Comic-Con in San Diego, producer Kevin Feige, who is spearheading Marvel’s Black Panther film, shared more details about the project. Actress Lupita Nyong’o will play the role of Nakia; Michael B. Jordan will portray Black Panther’s rival Erik Killmonger; and Danai Gurira will play the role of Okoye. Chadwick Boseman will star as the Black Panther. Ryan Coogler, who is slated to direct the project, revealed that filming will kick off at the beginning of 2017. “What’s so great about Panther is he’s a superhero who, if you grab him and ask him if he’s a superhero, he’ll tell you, ‘No.’ He sees himself as a politician, as a leader in his country. It just so happens that the country is a warrior-based nation where the leaders have to be warriors, as well, so sometimes he has to go fight. I think starting at that is really so interesting. If you look at that, anything that’s happening in the world right now, or in the world in the past, in the political realm and how people deal with each other, it can be an inspiration,” said Coogler. The film’s logo was also revealed during the event. Read more.
