ABronx, New York man lost his life after he was kicked multiple times in the head and chest by a mysterious assailant, according to the New York Police Department.

Willy Montilla, 41, was attacked early Monday morning by a man still on the loose, The New York Daily News reports:

Willy Montilla, 41, was felled by three punches to the chest at about 9:45 a.m. Monday by Westchester Ave. and Hugh Grant Circle in Parkchester, police said. His attacker then kicked him twice in the head.

Montilla struggled to his feet, tried to hail a cab and fell to the ground unconscious.

Authorities believe the stopped cab driver thought Montilla was drunk and drove off.

Police released a description of the suspect who they say is between the age of 25-35 and between 5-foot-7 and 6 feet. He also wore sunglasses, a dark-colored hooded sweater, light blue jeans, black boots, and a black baseball cap.

“Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine if the beating is what killed Montilla, who died after emergency personnel took him to Jacobi Medical Center,” according to the report.

Friends of Montilla described him as a gentle man who loved children. He was on disability and worked as a handy man, reports the the News. He moved to the neighborhood three months prior to his death.
