Two-time Tony Award Winner James Earl Jones will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this years ceremony.
The 86 year old actor will receive the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre on June 11 at the Tony Awards.
Described as “one of America’s most distinguished and versatile” actors and “one of the greatest actors in American history, Jones, has won Tonys for “The Great White Hope” and “Fences.” His Broadway credits also include “On Golden Pond,” ”Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” ”Driving Miss Daisy,” ”The Best Man” and “The Gin Game.”
The younger generation know him as the voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa from Disney’s “The Lion King.” My favorite? His role in the 1974 classic film “Claudine” co-starring Diahann Caroll.
Honor well deserved sir!
