James 1:2 (NLT)
Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
James does not say “if” trouble comes your way, but “whenever it does”. It is inevitable that we will have troubles and it is possible to learn from them. Don’t pretend to be happy when facing pain, but have a positive outlook (let it be an opportunity for joy) because of what troubles can produce in our life. Tough times can teach us perseverance—a discipline/characteristic we all should possess.
