According to a new study, African-American students get suspended or expelled at higher rates than White students in southern states. The conclusion was drawn from an analysis of federal data. Several districts across 13 states in the south were included in the study. African-American students make up less than one-fourth of the school population in these states, but they account for nearly half of all suspensions and expulsions. “I am actually shocked that there is not more outrage,” said Shaun R. Harper, executive director of the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education. “We want policy makers, parents and everybody to understand that any degree of disproportionality is in need of redress and response.” Read more.


Michael Jackson’s Team Settles Lawsuit with Costume Designer

Michael Jackson’s team has settled a lawsuit with the late star’s costume designer. Christopher Demers, Jackson’s manager, and Travis Payne, his choreographer, claimed they helped seal a deal to design outfits for the King of Pop’s last tour with a costume designer named Nestor ‘Zaldy’ Goco, but never received money for their work. They claimed that Zaldy stopped paying them after Jackson died. “We tried to settle this amicably several times,” said Demers. “But he repeatedly defaulted on his own proposed settlements. White Supremacist Wants to Name Town after Donald Trump

While presidential candidate Donald Trump’s outlandish remarks and views have rubbed many people the wrong way, but there are still a lot of people who are supporting his run for president. One of his supporters, Craig Cobb, reportedly wants to change the name of his North Dakota town to “Trump Creativity” or “Creativity Trump.” “Some of the citizens aren’t happy with the situation,” said Bottineau County Sheriff Steve Watson. This isn’t the first time that Cobb, who is a White supremacist, tried to take over a town. He attempted to do the same thing in Leith, North Dakota, but failed. Read more.
