Howard County names retired police captain Lisa Myers as it’s new police chief. What is significant is that she is the first female and the first African-American to ever hold this position.

Myers is a 27-year veteran of the Howard County Police Department, entering the police academy in 1994 working within various components of the Police Department.

In a statement she says, “I have dedicated my career to the Howard County Police Department and I look forward to leading the agency with transparency and accountability.”

Myers first day on the joy is February 1.

We wish her great success on this monumental assignment.
